Abstract

An analytic formula for the amplitudes of waves in uniform media with defects (heterogeneities) is presented. This formula allows us to recover defect properties from the information about amplitudes of waves at some points of the medium. Other applications, such as modeling of cloaking devices is also considered. This overview is based on the previous works of the author and it is intended to show how analytic approaches could be used to address waveform modeling in various applications.
