Camera transformations in Gocad : local magnifying glasses.

Abstract

A new visualization tool is proposed to improve the understanding of thin and wide subsurface models. A transformation, defined at the beginning of the graphic rendering pipeline, allows to get, locally, a closer view of the model, as if a magnifying glass was placed between the user and the model. The continuity between the magnified zone and the untouched part of the scene, which induces deformations, is handled by the transformation. Compared to a global scaling, this method does not introduce significant bias in the view of the model.
