 abstract = {An experimental geochemical exploration program for uranium was conducted in the rainforest environment of Gabon, where occur Precambrian sandstone-type uranium deposits. The results obtained by mapping the total uranium contents are compared with data from multivariate statistics (Principal Component Analysis) and with results obtained by using the surface area of stream sediment samples as a correcting factor of the raw geochemical data. The selection of significant uranium geochemical anomalies appears to be easier and more reliable if achieved by using such a correction factor than when based only upon raw data.},
